Parish Slava on Mother’s Day

IMG_8121On Sunday, May 8th, St George Serbian Orthodox Church celebrated their parish Slava in honor of the Great-Martyr and Trophy-Bearer George.  Following Divine Liturgy, the community gathered for a meal in the Serbian Center provided by our in-house caterers, “Catering by George.”  This year’s kumovi, Milan and Dragica Aralica, provided the necessary essentials for the Slava celebration, including the kolac and koljivo, and prayerfully participated in the blessing.

Fr Aleksa honored this year’s kumovi by pointing out their faithful participation at Divine services – and their commitment to bringing their grandchildren so that their family might continue to grow in the faith.  Milan and Dragica were thankful to the community for this honor, and expressed great love for their church in North Canton.

As is customary, the St George parish honored the graduates in our community. Our 2016 college graduates included Alexandra Kozak and Chelsea Magrell.  Our High School graduate was Alex Ralich, our lead altar server who will soon be departing for service in the Marines.

Our church school also celebrated their year-end celebration by handing out certificates to all students in attendance.  Those students also received prayer bracelets to keep them connected to their faith at home, and out in the world, as they put their Orthodoxy into practice during the summer.

It was a joyful Slava celebration on Mother’s Day!
