Since the earliest days of Christianity, faithful have gathered around the sites and places that are of profound importance to their spirituality. These pilgrims endured hardship and expense so that they might make a more intimate connection with our Lord Jesus Christ, through the saints of the church and the holy places of the Old and New Testament.

It is the goal of the Enrichment Committee of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church to offer opportunities for modern-day pilgrims to visit the spiritual places of importance to our Orthodox faith, so that we might continue the centuries-old tradition of pilgrimage, walking in the very footsteps of our ancestors-in-Christ that came before us.

Our fourth annual pilgrimage to New York will be a little bit different this year – rather than attend a Lenten reflection at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, we will meet with Dn. Jovan Anicic, the diocesan director of religious education.  God-willing, as in previous years, we will have a planned museum event on the day of arrival, followed by a day visiting St. Vladimir’s and/or the Residence of the Eastern Diocese, and conclude our trip by celebrating Divine Liturgy with the St. Sava community of New York City.

Our next pilgrimage will be to SERBIA in the Summer of 2018 – hosted by “Dobrocinstvo”, our pilgrims will enjoy a wonderful itinerary, venerating the Holy Saints of our parish’s ancestral homeland, and praying at the temples that have been beacons of life and light in the Balkans for hundreds of years. The fantastic price is quite fantastic – only around $710, not including airfare.  But even without the airfare, that’s less than $100 per-day for just about everything else!
